Why We’re More Than Trailers
For 45 years, Southland Trailers has been building more than trailers — we’ve been building a company where people come first. Today, we’re one of Canada’s largest trailer manufacturers with 560+ team members and a simple operating philosophy: people first, processes second, products third.
We believe in hard work, open communication, a positive attitude, continuous improvement, and leading with humility and respect. Using LEAN manufacturing and modern technology, we design and build high-quality trailers while constantly finding better ways to work.
At Southland, you’ll find a collaborative, hands-on environment where ideas are welcomed, initiative is valued, and your work makes a real impact.
If you’re driven, curious, and want to grow with a company that’s going places — you’ll fit right in.
About the Role:
We build trailers. You'll build the experience of everyone who builds them.
This role owns the full team member experience journey at Southland - from the day someone's hired to the day they leave, and everything that shapes how their time here actually feels. That means building the hiring bar before a job gets posted, catching safety problems before they repeat, knowing who's stalled out on their growth before they quit over it, and staying close enough to the plant floor to act on what's really going on, not just survey it.
In your first 90 days, you will:
- Learn Southland inside and out - our people, our systems, our standard work - well enough to operate independently
- Be trusted to run the day-to-day: safety, HR support, timesheets, the fundamentals that keep a plant running well
- Build real relationships with your plant's team members and Coaches - the foundation everything else gets built on
- Start forming a real point of view on where the experience is weakest, and what matters most to fix first
You're an A-player if:
- You notice when something feels off for a team member before anyone tells you
- You can walk a plant floor and talk to a welder and a plant manager in the same ten minutes, without changing who you are
- You take it personally when someone has a bad experience on your watch - not because it's your task, but because it's your plant
- You see hiring, safety, growth, and belonging as one experience, not four separate lanes
- "That's not my job" isn't a sentence you say
You're not a fit if:
- You want clear lanes and no ambiguity
- You think a form filed or a survey sent means the job is done
- You need a big city and a bigger office — this is Lethbridge, and you'll spend real time on the floor
The deal: Full ownership of the team member experience at your plant. Direct line to leadership. Family-owned means decisions happen in days, not committee cycles.
