The Division of Continuing Studies at the University of Victoria invites applications for instructors for Italian Level 1 language courses offered at the John Horgan Campus in Langford, BC. These classes are part of our World Languages programming, which consists of non-credit courses focused on real-world communication skills for working professionals and members of the community.We are currently seeking an instructor for the Italian Level 1 course (Fall 2026 term). This course is delivered in person and runs for two hours per week over a ten-week period.This posting requires native or near-native fluency in Italian and demonstrated experience teaching languages in a classroom setting for adult learners. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching Italian in adult or post-secondary continuing education contexts.The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Italian language, literature, education, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of a degree in another discipline with relevant teaching experience).
Preferred QualificationsApplicants should have:
- Native or near-native fluency in Italian (CEFR C1–C2 or equivalent)
- A bachelor’s degree in Italian language, literature, education, or a related field
- A minimum of three years of language teaching experience, ideally in adult or continuing education
- Experience teaching beginner-level learners (Level 1)
