Overview
We are seeking a motivated and diligent Articling Student to join our legal team. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity for aspiring lawyers to gain practical experience, develop their legal skills, and understand the day-to-day operations of a professional law practice. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in law, excellent research and communication skills, and a commitment to ethical practice.
Duties
- Assist lawyers with case preparation, including researching legal issues and drafting documents.
- Conduct legal research using various resources to support ongoing cases and projects.
- Draft legal memos, summaries, and correspondence under supervision.
- Attend client meetings, court proceedings, and other legal proceedings as required.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Support the team with administrative tasks related to case management and client communication.
- Observe courtroom procedures and participate in training sessions to enhance understanding of legal processes.
Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited law school.
- Strong interest in practicing law with a focus on professional development.
- Excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using legal research tools like CanLii and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. This position provides valuable exposure to the legal field while supporting the development of essential skills necessary for a successful career in law.
