Fertility Sonographer – Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Fertility Sonographer to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will perform specialized ultrasound examinations to support fertility assessments, treatment planning, and monitoring throughout fertility treatment cycles.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of pelvic and reproductive anatomy, excellent scanning skills, and the ability to work sensitively with patients throughout their fertility journey. Attention to detail, patient comfort, and accurate imaging are essential in this role.
Responsibilities
- Perform transvaginal and pelvic ultrasound examinations to support fertility assessments and treatments.
- Monitor ovarian follicles, endometrial thickness, and other reproductive structures during fertility treatment cycles.
- Perform ultrasound examinations at different stages of fertility treatment as required.
- Accurately document measurements, findings, and imaging information for physician review.
- Review images to ensure appropriate quality and obtain additional images or measurements when required.
- Prepare and position patients appropriately while maintaining their comfort, privacy, and dignity.
- Explain procedures clearly and respond to patient questions in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Work closely with fertility specialists, physicians, nurses, and other members of the clinical team.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure timely documentation of ultrasound findings.
- Follow infection prevention, patient safety, confidentiality, and clinic protocols.
- Maintain and operate ultrasound equipment appropriately and report any equipment concerns.
- Maintain current knowledge of fertility ultrasound practices and relevant developments in diagnostic imaging.
Qualifications
- Certification/registration as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer from a recognized/accredited program.
- Experience performing pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound examinations.
- Experience in fertility or reproductive medicine is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of female pelvic and reproductive anatomy.
- Excellent technical and image-quality skills.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when taking measurements and documenting findings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working with patients in a sensitive and confidential clinical environment.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians and the fertility care team.
