Event Security Guards – CityFolk Music Festival & Upcoming Events
TOERSA Security Inc. is hiring Event Security Guards for CityFolk Music Festival, taking place September 16–20 at the RA Centre in Ottawa.
We are looking for professional, reliable, and customer-service-oriented Security Guards to join our event team. This is a great opportunity to work at a major music festival and gain experience in event security, crowd management, access control, and emergency response.
Additional event opportunities will also be available throughout the season. Guards who perform well may have opportunities to work at other concerts, festivals, special events, and venues with TOERSA Security.
Security Positions & Duties :
Gate Security
- Monitor and control access to event entrances.
- Conduct bag searches in accordance with event procedures.
- Check tickets, credentials, and permitted items as required.
- Maintain a professional and welcoming presence.
- Assist with crowd flow and entrance lines.
- Report prohibited items or incidents to supervisors.
Perimeter Security
- Monitor the festival perimeter and fence lines.
- Prevent unauthorized access to restricted areas.
- Patrol assigned sections and remain alert for security concerns.
- Identify and report breaches, suspicious activity, or safety hazards.
- Maintain communication with supervisors and other security personnel.
Patrol Security
- Patrol designated event areas and respond to incidents.
- Monitor for intoxicated or disorderly individuals.
- Assist with fights, disturbances, and other security incidents.
- Request and assist paramedics when medical assistance is required.
- De-escalate situations professionally and safely.
- Maintain a visible security presence throughout the venue.
Bar Security
- Monitor alcohol-related activity around designated bar areas.
- Identify and respond to intoxicated or disorderly patrons.
- Assist with preventing underage drinking.
- Perform ID checks when required.
- Monitor for fights, disturbances, and unsafe behaviour.
- Work closely with bartenders, event staff, supervisors, and management.
Stage & Barricade Security
- Monitor and secure stage and barricade areas.
- Prevent unauthorized access to restricted/stage areas.
- Monitor crowd behaviour near the stage and barricades.
- Respond quickly to crowd-related incidents and safety concerns.
- Assist with maintaining a safe environment for performers, staff, and attendees.
- Follow all event-specific post orders and instructions.
Qualifications
Required:
- Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence
- First Aid & CPR certification
- Previous security, event, hospitality, or customer-service experience
- Strong English communication skills
- Professional appearance and conduct
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Reliable transportation and punctuality are an asset
Bonus:
- Smart Serve certification — Guards with Smart Serve may be eligible for an additional $1/hour on applicable shifts.
- Previous experience working concerts, festivals, bars, nightclubs, or large-scale events is an asset.
