Position Title: Kitchen Cook / Sous-Chef
Reports To: Chef
Status: Part-time/Full-time
Position Summary
We are looking for a motivated and reliable Kitchen Cook / Sous-Chef to work closely alongside our Head Chef in a fast-paced lodge kitchen environment. This role is ideal for someone passionate about food, teamwork, and creating quality dining experiences for guests.
The successful candidate will assist with food preparation, cooking, kitchen organization, menu execution, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations
- Prepare and cook menu items to quality and presentation standards
- Support menu planning, specials, and seasonal features
- Ensure food preparation areas are clean, organized, and stocked
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
- Assist with inventory management and food storage
- Help minimize food waste and maintain portion control
- Work efficiently during busy service periods
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure excellent guest experiences
- Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive kitchen experience; supervisory experience an asset.
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety, and kitchen operations.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Creativity in menu development and plating.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced, high-heat kitchen environment
- Ability to work efficiently and stay organized during busy service periods
- Effective use of time during slower periods, including prep work, cleaning, stocking, and kitchen organization
- Standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs may be required
- Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts required as part of the hospitality industry
