Many of our full‑time guards, supervisors, and operations staff started in casual roles and advanced through our in‑house promotion system.
Position Overview
We are seeking dependable and flexible Casual / On‑Call Security Guards to support various sites across Edmonton. This role is ideal for individuals who want open‑shift availability, enjoy diverse work environments, and are looking to grow into a stable full‑time position.
You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment through active patrols, surveillance, and strong access‑control practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide security coverage for open shifts, call‑ins, and short‑notice assignments
- Monitor premises using CCTV and surveillance systems
- Control access by verifying credentials of employees, visitors, contractors, and vendors
- Conduct interior and exterior patrols to deter theft, vandalism, and unauthorized entry
- Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, and emergency situations
- Maintain accurate daily logs, incident reports, and activity records
- Communicate professionally with clients, team members, and emergency responders
- Uphold Defron’s standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service
Qualifications
- Previous security experience is an asset but not mandatory
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm and confident during stressful situations
- Clear communication skills for reporting and client interaction
- Physically capable of standing, walking, and patrolling for extended periods
- Valid Alberta Security Licence (or eligibility to obtain one)
- Reliable, punctual, and able to accept shifts on short notice
