Job description: Accounting Assistant
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to provide day-to-day accounting and administrative support within our growing team. This role is responsible for supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, and reconciliations to ensure accurate and timely financial processing.
This position is process-driven and ideal for someone who thrives in a team based environment with a strong focus on accuracy, organization, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable Support
- Enter vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner
- Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies
- Review accounts payable aging and identify items requiring follow-up
- Enter receipts against purchase orders to ensure accurate matching
Backup/Crosstrain Office & Reception Support
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls professionally
- Greet clients, vendors, and visitors
- Receive, sort, and distribute mail and courier deliveries
- Maintain a professional, organized, and welcoming front-office environment
Systems & Tools
- Sage 300 CRE
- TimberScan
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel)
Qualifications & Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in an accounting or administrative support role preferred
- Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Experience within the construction industry is considered an asset
- Familiarity with Sage 300 CRE or similar accounting systems is considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Professional communication skills and confidence in a front-office environment
- Must work well in a collaborative team environment
