Job Summary:
We are pursuing a manufacturing engineer responsible for ensuring maximum efficiency of a company’s manufacturing processes. The right candidate brings knowledge of parts, tooling and equipment design, manufacturing processes, costing, and continuous improvement to work with a team to streamline manufacturing processes and procedures.
The manufacturing engineer aims to increase a company’s productivity while improving product quality and cost. The engineer creates innovative solutions to a variety of problems that may arise during fabrication.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Analyze the current method of production by watching operations and conducting comprehensive research.
- Develop manufacturing practices that are more efficient and cost-effective to improve throughput.
- Knowledge of automation and robotics to improve processes is a plus.
- Provide recommendations and considerations while estimating/quoting new products to customers or company leaders to maximize the use of production timelines and equipment.
- Effectively administer documentation and information related to the production system to support manufacturing goals.
- Provide technical support to keep the company equipment in good working condition, follow recommended maintenance, and diagnose any issues that appear.
- Generate an accurate database of all production details and data.
- Continue to develop professional expertise and proficiencies by periodically participating in classes, conferences, and other developmental opportunities.
- Liaison with a team of machinery operators, managers, product developers, and quality groups to ensure everyone contributes to the common goal.
- Work to provide solutions to leadership when presented with manufacturing concerns.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial) with coursework in the manufacturing process
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in the manufacturing environment with fabrication competencies
- Knowledge of computer design and engineering software – solid works design, GD&T
- Comprehensive knowledge of Continuous Improvement/lean manufacturing with the ability to employ relevant tools, i.e., Kaizens, RRCA, 3M’s, SQDEC boards, five why’s, Ishikawa, VSM, Pareto analysis…
- Experience in sheet metal fabrication, including processes, fixtures, and tooling, is an asset.
- Competent in reading technical engineering drawings with the ability to discern the merit of the drawings
- Quoting/Estimating experience as an asset
- Experience with project management and planning is desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management
- Ability to provide feedback both orally and in writing
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $65,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
