We complete survey work at a variety of sites throughout the GTA and Ontario. A large portion of our projects take place on rail properties (including yards, bridges and corridors), but our surveyors also work on many municipal and industrial sites.
Groma is advertising a Topographic Surveyor position to add another member to our team to provide survey support during upcoming major projects around the GTA. While the office is based north of Hamilton, surveyors from all corners of the GTA are welcome, as the field staff commute directly to sites from home.
Responsibilities for Surveyors include:
-Preforming GPS and total station surveys at a variety of locations, including municipal streets, bridges and rail corridors
-Establishing control networks using total station traverses and digital leveling techniques
-Assisting with construction layout on roadways, industrial settings and rail corridors
-Setting and surveying targets and control for LiDAR scanning (aerial, stationary and mobile)
-Complete settlement monitoring for rail construction projects
-Independent field work, and work as a part of two-person crews, as projects require
Requirements include:
-Resident and legally allowed to work in Canada
-Completion of a post-secondary program in Civil Engineering Technology, Surveying or a similar stream
-5+ years surveying experience with GPS and total station equipment
-Experience using Leica DNA03 & LS15 digital levels
-Access to personal vehicle for travel to site, and a valid G or G2 license. Successful candidate must have clean driving record and no criminal record.
-Ability to travel outside of the GTA as needed. Mileage and travel time is compensated for longer trips, along with meals and hotel stays
-Night and weekend work as needed
-Excellent communication skills for interactions with clients and the public, as well as office staff and fellow surveyors
-Able to work alone on sites with ease
-Able to take direction and work as a team with other surveyors, subcontractors, client staff and other team members
Pay Ranges (per hour based on past experience):
15-20 years experience: $35-$45
10-15 years experience: $30-35
5-10 years experience: $25-30
Less than 5 years experience: Starting at $20
