Quality Inspector / Engineer
Tube-Fab Ltd is a leading aerospace manufacturing company specializing in precision tube fabrication and assemblies. We are seeking a Quality Inspector / Engineer to join our Quality Assurance team, reporting to the Quality Director.
This role is responsible for ensuring product and process compliance with aerospace standards through inspection, auditing, analysis, and continuous improvement activities across manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret aerospace part drawings and understand GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI), first piece inspections, and in-process / production inspections
- Operate inspection equipment including Faro Arm, CMM, VMM, and Optical Comparator
- Effectively use measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, tape measures, and gauges
- Provide inspection support and guidance to production operators
- Provide QA oversight for chemical processing, paint, and welding processes
- Conduct incoming inspections of raw materials, fittings, hardware, and purchased components
- Perform routine testing of materials, work-in-process, and finished goods against specifications
- Document inspection results including FAI, APQP, PPAP, calibration records, and quality logs
- Perform and document calibration and verification of inspection and test equipment
- Investigate non-conformances and customer complaints using RCCA / CAPA tools (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone)
- Create Quality Alerts and prepare quality analysis documentation
- Monitor process performance using SPC and quality tools
- Develop, track, and report QA KPIs including FPY, COPQ, and audit compliance
- Ensure segregation of nonconforming, reworked, or repaired product
- Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Support internal and external audits including AS9100 and NADCAP
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve processes and product quality
- Maintain visual management systems including KPIs and defect trends
- Follow all company safety requirements and perform other QA duties as required
Typical Qualifications
- Commercial certificate or post-secondary education in Quality Management or a related field
- Aerospace inspection experience preferred
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
- Working knowledge of GD&T, FAI, and calibration documentation
- Experience operating inspection equipment such as CMM, Optical Comparator, VMM, or Faro Arm
- Strong organizational and decision-making skills
- Experience with non-conformance management, RCCA, and CAPA processes
- Previous weld inspection or tube bend inspection experience is an asset
- Familiarity with AS9100, NADCAP, or other aerospace quality systems
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Continuous improvement mindset and ability to work cross-functionally
