In this highly visible role within the supply chain, the strategic planner must produce short-, medium-, and long-term production plans, taking into account updated sales forecasts and upcoming special events (continuous process) for each plant, within a 12- to 15-month time frame.
Working collaboratively with Customer Service, Sales, Operations, Purchasing/Planning, R&D, and product managers is of paramount importance to reach these objectives.
1. Key responsibilities
Analyze the master production schedule developed by Sales and implement it at the plants (SAP forecasting). The schedule will be used for detailed planning of raw materials and production capacity.
Actively participate in the launch, deployment, and promotion of new products by acting as a liaison between Sales/Marketing and Operations.
Prepare and lead the Capacity Planning Review (CPR) meetings with the plant team.
Develop tools to analyze and improve key performance indicators.
Follow up on production planning by ensuring compliance between production plans and actual performance.
Work closely with Operations to optimize inventories.
Optimize the logistics plan for finished product delivery and distribution while taking customer programs into account.
Communicate with the sales managers when Customer Service is forced to rank customers by priority to meet excess demand within a reasonable time frame.
Identify and suggest alternative production site scenarios for products that could optimize overall costs.
2. Professional qualifications and competencies
1) Minimum education level
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration/operations management
2) Minimum experience
- 2 to 5 years in production/supply planning
3) Required skills
- Bilingual (French/English), written and spoken
- Experience with SAP & SAP BW
- Expertise in MS Office (Excel)
- Proven analytical skills
- Aptitude for presenting information and answering questions from managers and colleagues
