Construction Heavy Equipment Operator
Weekly Travel Required
We are looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our civil construction team. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will safely and efficiently operate a variety of heavy equipment on civil construction projects while working alongside a skilled crew committed to quality, safety, and teamwork.

Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, and compactors.
- Complete pre-operation inspections and perform routine equipment checks.
- Perform excavation, grading, fine grading, backfilling, leveling, and compaction to project specifications.
- Read and interpret drawings, grade stakes, and project plans.
- Work closely with supervisors and crew members to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Monitor equipment performance and promptly report mechanical issues.
- Follow all company safety policies and industry best practices.
- Maintain clear communication with the project team regarding progress, site conditions, and any concerns.
- This is a hands-on role requiring a team-oriented operator who is willing to safely work both in the equipment and on the ground. The successful candidate will assist with trench work, pipe installation, grade checking, and other site duties as required to support project operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of civil construction experience.
- Minimum 5 years of heavy equipment operating experience.
- Experience with GPS machine control systems (Trimble preferred).
- Proven experience with dozer and excavator fine grading.
- Experience installing underground pipe and performing site servicing work.
- Strong understanding of civil construction methods and heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify equipment issues.
- Ability to work safely in physically demanding conditions and in varying weather.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong team-first attitude.
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record (Class 1 licence preferred).
- Heavy equipment certification or formal training is considered an asset.
