As our business is growing rapidly, we need a skilled Forklift Mechanics to service our client relationships in the York Region. The ideal candidate will leave within this area.
Note: Our head office is located in Mississauga and you will be required to commute to our office from time to time.

Summary
The Road Technician will perform maintenance and repairs on various makes and models of forklift trucks and material handling equipment used by our customers. A Road Technician should be highly organized, have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent mechanical repair skills.
Job Duties (including but not limited to):
- Communicate with coordinators throughout the day to provide an update on status of work completed or in progress. Review daily schedule and plan accordingly.
- Repair and maintain various types of forklift trucks including electric, gas-powered, and propane-powered and heavy lifting equipment to ensure proper performance and identify faults or malfunctions.
- Perform regularly scheduled maintenance, safeties & address breakdowns in assigned accounts.
- Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning, lubricating, tightening, and replacing worn parts to keep equipment in optimal operating condition
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical to determine the required repairs.
- Service and maintain attachments and operational tools used with lifting equipment, including forks, buckets, booms, platforms, and other specialized components.
- Inspect forklift truck fleet to ensure trucks are working properly and safely.
- Identify any forklift trucks that need repairs.
- Identify, and may remove, unsafe equipment from facility operating area and notify supervisor.
- Conduct functional tests on repaired lifting equipment to ensure repairs were completely correctly, verify performance and ensure all work meets manufacturer and safety specifications.
- Troubleshoot and perform repairs on company service trucks and related heavy-duty vehicles when required.
- Communicate with Parts to streamline getting assets back into ready condition.
- Communicate with Manager if unable to complete repairs onsite and support arrangements to have asset taken to LNA Shop.
- Work within the CRM to upload pertinent information on Assets. Review and update asset list regularly. Completing All Required Data and ensuring high data rating on assets.
- Ensure all Work Orders are signed by customers for work preformed. Communicate any other pertinent information regarding the asset that you may have noticed that was not part of the initial check up/service call. Identify opportunities for the company.
- Completing and documenting all work in Salesforce for any work performed.
- Completing and/or submitting warranty work for new or used equipment.
- Preparing quotes for additional repair or work required.
- Look for opportunities for rental, sales or service within accounts you are servicing and input in Salesforce.
- Ensure you keep your work area and vehicle clean. Ensure assets are cleaned after work completion.
- Assist other technicians with major repairs when required.
- Work in compliance with the provisions of the OHSA, regulations, internal programs, policies and procedures on company and customer sites.
- Completing all required training (ie, HR, health and safety, job specific, practical etc).
- Reviewing the Health and Safety Policy Statement
- Working in compliance with occupational health and safety policies and procedures.
- Notifying managers of any health and safety concerns, so that they may be dealt with promptly.
- Protecting his or her own and co-workers health and safety by working in compliance with the law and with safe work practices and procedures established
- Using appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
- Reporting unsafe or potentially hazardous conditions to their Manager. Promoting a hazard-free workplace.
- Performing their duties in a manner conducive to a safe workplace, following all safety practices and procedures.
- Reporting of any incident, injury or hazard as outlined in procedures.
- Reporting any acts of violence or harassment in the workplace.
- Learning the Emergency Response Plan detailing their facilities procedures pertaining to: Fire, Weather, or Medical Emergency
- Responsible for own tools. Ensure they are in good condition and/or working order.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years’ experience trouble shooting and repairing forklifts.
- Completion of forklift truck mechanics training course required.
- Ability to use hand and power tools to repair forklift trucks.
- Ability to read repair manuals, trouble shoot and repair various types of forklift trucks.
- Excellent mechanical repair skills.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be physically capable of accessing all parts of the forklift truck needing repairs or maintenance, either by kneeling or lying on back.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time
