Job Description: Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Department workers are key members of the Maintenance team. Working with other maintenance employees, the positions will be required to work safely and productively with minimum supervision and will be tasked to help maintain site facilities including, stationary, mobile, and ship loading equipment within the capacity of their training, experience and skills.
All positions require a demonstrated ability to assist in the identification and early detection requirements of preventative maintenance. The Maintenance team members are required to assist with the repair or replacement of defective machinery parts, fabrication of site-built components, detection and troubleshooting of irregularities and malfunctions, assembly and installation of machinery and equipment, operation of hoisting and lifting equipment, and routine maintenance as required by the Orca preventive mainatenance program. Successful applicants will have a desire to see equipment running efficiently and a drive to solve complex problems.
Orca is an open-pit quarry and the work is primarily outdoors and requires a reasonable level of fitness. Previous experience in mining or other industrial settings is required.
This is not a camp job. Must be able to live in the North Island.
Qualifications:
§ Demonstrated familiarity and compliance with all relevant safety policies and regulations
§ Ability to work with minimal supervision or as part of a team
§ Must have a valid drivers license
§ 3+ years experience in industrial maintenance, or Welder or Millwright certification
§ Previous experience in a sand and gravel quarry considered an asset
§ Strong interpersonal skills
§ Prior experience with computer and maintenance software
§ Preference given to residents of the North Island
§ Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and employment background checks.
