We are seeking a reliable and hardworking to join our team. This position involves performing a variety of physical tasks to support our operations, assist both Furnace and Crane Operators ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the loading and unloading of materials
- Performing general site housekeeping in the pour station area including behind ladle pour stand and decks surrounding the atomization area
- Maintain required inventory including restock of carbon, ferro silica into designated areas
- Work closely with Crane and Furnace Operators in addition to shift supervisors to support performance within the shift
- Following instructions, procedures, processes and all health and safety procedures including proper wear of all PPE
- Working as part of a team to complete tasks efficiently
- Monitor and control the flow of molten metal through the tundish channels
- Accomplish tasks in a manner which minimizes delay times but performed in accordance with approved safety rules and guidelines
- Store all tools, equipment and supplies away in their designated areas
- Assist in trials to reduce operating costs
- All other duties assigned by leadership or designate
Job Requirements
- Must be able to understand electrical control panels, water and hydraulic circuits, and the sequences involved in the startup and shut down of associated equipment
- Must have minimal mechanical skills
- Must be able to work with hand and pneumatic tools
- Comprehension and ability to complete required reporting documents prior to end of each shift
- Must be able to operate a forklift truck, crane and propane filing process (ability to be trained within a timely manner)
- Basic math skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Experience with hand and power tools is an asset
- Safety-conscious attitude
- Must be able to work in Canada
Education
- Completion of Secondary High School Diploma/GED equivalent
Physical Requirements
Ability to withstand cold weather and high heat/humidity working conditions and the odours associated with the steel making process
Ability to work scheduled shift work including weekend and OT when necessary
Ability to work at a minimum elevated height of 15 feet about ground
Ability to climb ladders/stairs and traverse the grounds
Ability to lift fifty (50) lbs.
