We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Generalist to support both office and field employees.
The HR Generalist will play a key role in supporting day-to-day HR operations, ensuring compliance, and providing excellent service to employees and managers. This role requires strong communication skills, practical problem-solving abilities, and comfort working with field personnel, craft workers, and project teams in a construction environment.
Based in Corner Brook, NL the selected individual will have the following responsibilities:
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Support full-cycle recruitment for field, craft, and administrative roles
- Post job openings, screen applicants, coordinate interviews
- Conduct new-hire orientations and ensure all compliance documents are completed
Employee Relations
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions and concerns
- Support supervisors with employee relations matters and workplace issues
- Assist with conflict resolution and documentation
HR Administration & Compliance
- Maintain accurate employee files and records
- Ensure compliance with federal, and provincial employment laws
- Manage new hire documents, employment equity tracking, background checks, and other required onboarding requirements and documents
Benefits & Payroll Support
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment and eligibility questions
- Support payroll by reviewing data and assisting with corrections
Training & Safety Support
- Schedule mandatory training and track employee certifications
- Collaborate with the safety team on compliance, orientations, and incident documentation
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
· 2–5 years of HR generalist experience; construction experience preferred
· Strong understanding of employment laws and HR best practices
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work effectively with field and office personnel
· Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office
