Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and responsible School Bus Safety Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with special needs children and a background in the school bus industry. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the safety and well-being of students during transit to and from school. This includes maintaining a secure environment on the school bus, assisting with student behavior, and working closely with drivers and school staff to address any safety concerns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety and security of students while on the school bus.
- Assist students with special needs as necessary, providing support and ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
- Monitor student behavior and enforce safety protocols on the bus.
- Work closely with school bus drivers to ensure smooth operations and prompt handling of any incidents or emergencies.
- Assist students in safely boarding and disembarking from the bus.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with school staff, parents, and transportation teams.
- Respond to emergencies in a calm and effective manner, providing immediate support as needed.
- Conduct routine safety checks of the bus to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Report any safety hazards, incidents, or concerns to the appropriate authorities or management.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with special needs children is preferred.
- Experience in the school bus industry is a plus.
- Must have or be willing to obtain a Class B driver’s license with a school bus endorsement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in emergency situations.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in student transportation.
- A compassionate and patient approach to working with children, especially those with special needs.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
