Timmerman Timberworks is a leader in the Canadian mass timber industry and specializes in the design, supply and installation of heavy timber, glulam and structural wood elements. Established in 1999, we have a cohesive team of designers, engineers, project managers, and carpenters that work towards the common goal of building superior structures.
Reporting directly to the owners of the company, the successful applicant will play a crucial role in overseeing the company finances and will be responsible for:
- Managing all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll data, and general ledger.
- Leading the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements, ensuring compliance with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE/IFRS).
- Collaborating with the accounting team to provide financial analysis to the Managers and Ownership.
- Establishing and maintaining strong internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard company assets.
- Ensuring compliance with Canadian tax regulations (e.g., GST/HST, corporate income tax) and other statutory requirements.
- Coordinating with external auditors and assisting in the annual audit process.
- Providing financial analysis and support for budgeting and forecasting activities.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency with QuickBooks, Excel and various computer software programs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of professional accounting terminology, techniques, theories, and principles
- Attention to detail and proven ability to analyze large amounts of data
- Sound knowledge of management, finance, and accounting principles
- Excellent leadership abilities
- Superior data analysis and data management skills
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- 10 years of experience in construction finance, and comprehensive knowledge of project accounting is preferred.
