As our operations continue to grow in the Calgary area, we are looking for a skilled and independent Mobile Reefer Mechanic to join our team.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Transport Refrigeration Technician to operate one of our service trucks. In this role, you will be the face of Apex in the field, providing diagnostic, repair, and maintenance services to our customers across Calgary and the surrounding area.

Key Responsibilities
- Mobile Service: Operate a company service truck to perform on-site repairs and maintenance at customer yards and breakdown locations.
- Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair transport refrigeration units (primarily Thermo King and Carrier) including engine, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
- Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PMs) and inspections to ensure equipment reliability and compliance.
- Documentation: Accurately complete service work orders, parts requisitions, and inspection reports via tablet/software.
- Customer Service: Communicate effectively with fleet managers and drivers regarding repair timelines and equipment status.
- Safety: Adhere to all Apex Trailer Group safety policies and Alberta OH&S standards, particularly while working roadside or in customer yards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years of experience working on transport refrigeration units (Thermo King/Carrier) is required.
- Certification : Transport Refrigeration Technician Journeyman Certificate Preferred
- Driver’s License: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract (Class 3 or 1 is an asset).
- Skills: Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude with the ability to read wiring schematics.
- Tools: Must possess a comprehensive set of mechanics' tools (specialty tooling provided by the company).
- Attributes: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, withstand Calgary weather conditions (outdoor work required), and maintain a professional attitude.
