Job Summary
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment reliability and operational efficiency. This role supports the Maintenance department by leveraging CMMS systems to drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
The Maintenance Planner works cross‑functionally with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to minimize downtime, improve asset performance, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities:
Planning and Scheduling
- Lead the implementation and optimization of FIIX, expanding its use from a ticketing tool into a comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance platform.
- Build and maintain accurate asset hierarchies, maintenance schedules, and job plans within the CMMS.
- Drive PM compliance and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as uptime, MTBF, and maintenance completion rates.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to identify equipment reliability issues and implement sustainable, long-term solutions.
- Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring proper PM integration from day one.
- Analyze maintenance data to identify trends, root causes, and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Establish and manage spare parts planning and inventory strategies to minimize downtime risk.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and operational standards.
- The candidate will be expected to perform additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization.
Ordering and Inventory
- Manage and organize the parts room, ensuring cleanliness and order.
- Manage inventory for production (supersack bags, paint, wrap)
- Conduct price and quality surveys for parts, provide counter service, and ensure data accuracy.
- Maintain inventory levels, order special parts as needed, and handle returns.
Process Improvements
- Recommend improvements for planning, scheduling, and inventory management.
- Identify cost-saving alternatives and assist in developing efficient parts management practices.
Communication and Teamwork
- Liaise with the Production Scheduler and Maintenance Manager to integrate maintenance work into the production plan.
- Maintain strong working relationships across departments and communicate key developments effectively.
Qualifications & Skills
- 3+ years of experience in maintenance planning, reliability engineering, or industrial maintenance.
- Proven experience developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
- Solid understanding of industrial equipment, machinery, and maintenance best practices.
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Demonstrated career ambition with a track record of growth and increasing responsibility; highly promotable with the potential to take on broader leadership roles within a fast-paced, high-growth organization
- Hands-on experience with a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) platform
