Job Overview
The Discipleship Pastor’s main focus will be developing discipleship pathways at River of Life Alliance Church to align with our new vision statement. River of Life began as “First Filipino Alliance” in Calgary and remains a Filipino-majority church. However, our church has a longing to shift and begin reaching the nations. Therefore, this pastor will work with the staff to develop strategies and equip the community at RLAC to be obedient to the Great Commission. This role will be integral to moving RLAC in our new cross-cultural & multigenerational direction.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside the pastoral team to bring healthy discipleship to River of Life Alliance Church that aligns with our new vision of having a multigenerational, multiethnic, and missional church expression.
- Assist the Senior Pastor in providing pastoral care and spiritual development to the members and adherents of River of Life Alliance Church.
- Equip small group leaders by teaching them how to identify and operate in their strengths and spiritual gifts. Equipping our leaders with resources that align with our new vision – including teaching about cross-cultural ministry.
- Create a smooth transition for newcomers to be welcomed and integrated into the church community.
- Provide strategic missional oversight to the small group ministry of River of Life Alliance Church - including the multiplication and planting of new diverse groups.
- Keep accurate records of all existing and new small groups.
- Visit small groups and develop strong relationships in the community.
- § Provide pastoral oversight and general ministry for the church community: counselling, child dedications, weddings and funerals.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Participate on Sunday and Prayer services. This includes occasional preaching, teaching, and hosting of services.
- Develop and manage the discipleship budget.
- Assume additional tasks as needed and directed by the Senior Pastor.
Qualifications
- Have an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.
- High-cross cultural intelligence (especially experience with Filipino and Western cultures).
- Gifted in leadership
- A hard work-ethic that values excellence.
- An undergraduate degree in theology.
- Proven experience in teaching, public speaking, or leadership within a faith-based organization or church setting
- Willing to be licensed with the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
Pay: $51,034.00-$74,849.25 per year
Work Location: In person
