We are a small but growing company looking for a hands-on, reliable Structured Wiring Technician / Security Specialist. This role includes installing and maintaining structured cabling and electronic security systems in both commercial and industrial settings. You will sometimes be required travel across the Maritimes during the week and return home for weekends.
Technician is to provide the Hand Tools listed at below. ECC will provide trade specific tools, other hand tools, power tools, and safety equipment.
Responsibilities
- Must be able to run a job site, read floor plans, coordinate with other trades and general contractors.
- Install and terminate Cat5e, Cat6, coaxial, and fiber optic cables to required codes and standards.
- Set up, configure and troubleshoot security systems/alarms, cameras (CCTV), access control, Network equipment, Computers, Wireless AP's, Wireless PTP & PTMP Systems.
- Troubleshoot Gate Operators and Handicap Door Operators for basic functions along with being able to tie Access Control into them.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Maintain clean and accurate documentation of installations.
- Follow all safety procedures and industry standards.
- Interact professionally with clients on-site.
Qualifications (Updated)
- 2 years+ of experience in structured cabling.
- 1 year+ of experience in security system installation.
- 1 year+ of experience in access control installation.
- Knowledge of low-voltage systems, wiring standards, and diagnostic tools
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Comfortable with physical work, including climbing ladders and working in tight spaces
- Criminal background check required due to security access
Schedule & Travel
- Primarily weekday work
- Occasional night and weekend work based on project needs.
- Travel throughout the Maritime provinces is required, with all technicians returning home on weekends.
- Company vehicle provided for work use. To be kept at our shop at night/weekends.

- Screw Driver(s) PH1, PH2, PH3, SL1/4", SL3/16", SQ1, SQ2, SQ3 (Can be a multi-bit or individual)
