Job Summary
The Human Resources Officer is responsible for supporting the organization's human resource functions, including recruitment and selection, employee onboarding, training and development, performance management, compensation and benefits administration, employee relations, workplace health and safety, and compliance with employment legislation. The HR Officer works closely with managers and employees to ensure HR policies and practices align with the organization's strategic objectives while creating a positive and productive workplace.
Key Responsibilities1. Recruitment and Selection
- Prepare and update job descriptions through job analysis.
- Coordinate recruitment campaigns using online job boards, social media, and HR software.
- Screen resumes and applications.
- Schedule interviews and assist hiring managers during the selection process.
- Conduct reference and background checks.
- Support workforce planning and forecasting.
- Maintain recruitment records using Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS).
2. Employee Orientation and Onboarding
- Organize orientation programs for new employees.
- Ensure all employment documentation is completed.
- Introduce new hires to company policies, procedures, and workplace culture.
- Monitor employee onboarding progress during the probationary period.
3. Training and Development
- Identify employee training needs through performance reviews and manager feedback.
- Coordinate internal and external training sessions.
- Maintain employee training records.
- Support career development and succession planning initiatives.
- Promote continuous learning opportunities.
4. Performance Management
- Assist managers with performance appraisal processes.
- Monitor employee performance goals and development plans.
- Support regular employee feedback sessions.
- Maintain confidential performance records.
- Recommend strategies to improve employee performance and engagement.
5. Compensation and Benefits
- Assist with payroll administration.
- Maintain employee compensation and benefits records.
- Support salary reviews and performance-based reward programs.
- Communicate employee benefit programs.
- Assist with employee recognition initiatives.
6. Health and Safety
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation.
- Coordinate workplace safety training.
- Maintain incident and accident reports.
- Participate in workplace inspections and hazard assessments.
- Promote employee wellness initiatives.
7. Employee and Labour Relations
- Support employee relations by addressing workplace concerns fairly and professionally.
- Assist with conflict resolution and disciplinary procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding employee information.
- Support compliance with employment standards and labour legislation.
- Assist in maintaining positive labour-management relationships where applicable.
8. HR Administration
- Maintain accurate employee files and HR records.
- Prepare HR reports and employment documentation.
- Ensure compliance with privacy and confidentiality requirements.
- Update HR policies and procedures.
- Support HR projects and organizational initiatives.
Required QualificationsEducation
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation is considered an asset.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in Human Resources or a related administrative role.
- Experience with HRIS software and Microsoft Office applications.
Pay: $43,392.99-$111,297.24 per year
