Job Summary:
The position of Estimator is responsible for generating and processing customer requested quotes on a timely basis, for standard and custom components for the Metallurgical Product Group. The Estimator will also facilitate all web-based communication, orders and requests. This role reports to the Director, Metallurgical Product Group and is a key role within the department.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for incoming communication, either by phone, e-mail, fax or web-based, with customers, with respect to spare parts and custom components.
- Generates estimates which include price and timing for requested parts and projects
- Works closely with Sales team in developing quotes that will result in profitable orders for custom and standard component requests.
- Prepares timely estimates of costs of materials, labor, and equipment for manufacturing projects based on 3D models or 2D drawings, and customer specifications.
- Prepare ‘time and material’ quote requests as required.
- Works with Engineering staff, Accounting and Program Managers to confirm that parts requested by customers meets the desired outcome.
- Work cross-functionally with sales, engineering, manufacturing, planning, scheduling, supply chain and logistics to identify and resolve manufacturing, costing and shipping issues for standard and custom component orders.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience as an Estimator required, preferably in equipment manufacturing
- Experience in inside sales or customer service (metallurgical specialty highly preferred) is an asset
- Proficient with MS Office applications and intermediate level competency with MS Excel preferred
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Familiar with manufacturing processes, in a Metallurgical environment, to ensure accurate quoting is performed.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical aspects of to sales and engineering teams as well as customer representatives.
- Must have strong presentation skills along with strong technical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of AutoCad and Sales Force experience preferred
Education and Experience:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in a technical field is preferred, ideally in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Other relevant technical disciplines will also be considered.
Working Conditions
- This is an “onsite” position with limited flexibility for remote work
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
- May be exposed to industrial sites
- On very rare occasions, weekend or after-hours work may be required to support critical project demands
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
