Golden Arrow School Bus Ltd is looking to hire a Full-time, Permanent Second or Third Year Apprentice Mechanic with Motor Coach and School Bus experience for its Edmonton Location. The duties include supervising daily activities of vehicle repair and maintenance operation to ensure proper performance and safety of all vehicles.
Qualifications:
- Licensed mechanics, Second or Third Year Apprentice
- Valid Class 1, 2, or 3 Driver’s License with Airbrake Endorsement.
- Five years’ experience in vehicle repair and maintenance procedures.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Use diagnostic equipment to evaluate mechanical problems in vehicles.
- Assign priority and process vehicle repair work orders. Evaluate and recommend all repairs. Provide cost estimates.
- Arrange contract repairs when work cannot be performed in shop.
- Schedule routine vehicle maintenance and preventive care.
- Discuss mechanical problems with other mechanics and help them solve repair problems. Inspect work performed by mechanics in overhaul and repair of district automotive equipment. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
- Keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
- Supervise cleaning of buses by washing crew.
- Direct the upkeep and appearance of shop and parking lot area.
- Work irregular hours and respond to after-hours emergency calls as needed.
- Hold tool box meeting and record minutes.
- Test drive before and upon completion of bus repairs for drivability issues.
- Reports to the supervisor (Edmonton)/ Director of Maintenance.
- Other duties as assigned
Schedule:
- 7 days on, 7 days off, 12 hour shifts, Tuesday to Monday
Pay: $22.80 - $36.00 an hour
