Purpose
The primary purpose of the position is to plan, develop, organize, implement and validate Therapeutic Recreation programs designed to meet the social, cultural, recreational, physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the residents of Maple Ridge – the new nursing home constructed in Oromocto. The incumbent is responsible to make decisions that provides for the effective planning, preparation and execution of all aspects of the Therapeutic Recreation Program.

JOB DESCRIPTION
As a recreation coordinator you will help to bring joy and
excitement into the lives of our residents by helping to facilitate and
participate in our group and one-on-one activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- You have degree in Gerontology or a related discipline or have successfully completed a Therapeutic Activity Professionals course
- Previous experience working in healthcare or long-term care, or other experience with the long-term care population
- You have a passion for creative arts such as music therapy, art therapy, or artistic expression
- You are an energetic, compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly
- You can work flexible hours and shifts (including some weekends and evenings).
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Build trust and friendship though speaking with and listening to residents
- Communicate to residents the daily and upcoming activities
- Help transport any interested residents to the activities location and then back to their living area if requested
- Assist with group activities such as musical entertainment, church service, and bingo
- Participate in and promote staff participation in facility-wide activities events
- Responsible for volunteer program - including recruiting, orientating and tracking
- Responsible for documenting and reviewing the activities for all residents
- Other duties as required

Pay: $25.68-$27.27 per hour
