Snaw-Naw-As Campground is a beautiful oceanside campground on Vancouver Island’s East Coast. We welcome guests to relax, camp, and enjoy the outdoors in a friendly and respectful environment.
Our campground includes RV sites, waterfront cabins, washrooms, showers, laundry facilities, a sani-dump station, beach access areas, and other guest amenities. We are looking for a dependable and professional Night Security and Campground Patrol Attendant to help maintain a safe, quiet, and welcoming overnight environment for campers, cabin guests, visitors, staff, and the Snaw-Naw-As community.
Position Summary
The Night Security and Campground Patrol Attendant is responsible for monitoring the campground during evening and overnight hours. This role includes conducting regular patrols, supporting guest safety, helping enforce campground rules, responding to noise or safety concerns, documenting incidents, and contacting management or emergency services when required.
This is a customer-service-focused security role. The successful candidate will be visible, approachable, calm, respectful, and professional when interacting with guests and community members.
Responsibilities
The Night Security and Campground Patrol Attendant will:
- Conduct regular foot patrols of RV sites, cabins, washrooms, laundry areas, parking areas, public spaces, beach access areas, gates, and other designated areas.
- Help maintain a quiet and respectful campground environment during quiet hours.
- Remind guests and visitors of campground rules in a calm, professional, and respectful manner.
- Monitor campfires and respond to or report unsafe fire practices, including unattended fires or fires that do not follow campground rules.
- Watch for unauthorized visitors, unregistered vehicles, disturbances, suspicious activity, property damage, safety hazards, and maintenance concerns.
- Respond to guest concerns such as noise complaints, after-hours questions, minor disputes, lockouts, and safety concerns.
- Use de-escalation and conflict-resolution skills when dealing with difficult situations.
- Contact the Campground Manager, on-call supervisor, police, fire department, ambulance, or other emergency services when appropriate.
- Complete clear and accurate written shift logs and incident reports.
- Secure gates, buildings, equipment, and other designated areas according to campground procedures.
- Assist with emergency procedures, evacuations, medical incidents, fire response, or severe weather response as directed.
- Provide basic information to guests, including campground rules, emergency contacts, washroom locations, after-hours check-in information, and after-hours procedures.
- Maintain a professional appearance and represent Snaw-Naw-As Campground in a respectful and welcoming manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in security, campground operations, park patrol, hospitality, bylaw enforcement, emergency services, customer service, or a related role.
- A valid B.C. Security Worker Licence, or willingness and ability to obtain one before starting if required for the final scope of duties.
- Basic Security Training, First Aid, CPR, OFA, emergency response, or conflict-resolution training is an asset.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s licence and clean driver’s abstract is an asset, especially if the role requires operating a campground vehicle or golf cart.
- Ability to pass a criminal record check.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to remain calm, respectful, and professional during stressful situations.
- Good judgment and the ability to know when to escalate an issue to management or emergency services.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable attendance and availability for evening shifts, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Comfort working outdoors at night in changing weather conditions.
- Physical ability to walk, stand, patrol, climb stairs, and respond around the campground during an 8-hour shift.
- Ability to write clear shift notes and incident reports.
- Respect for Snaw-Naw-As First Nation, guests, staff, community members, and the campground’s family-friendly environment.
Working Conditions
This position involves working outdoors during evening and overnight hours. The role may include walking or driving patrols, responding to guest concerns, working alone for portions of a shift, and being available during busy weekends, holidays, and peak camping season.
