We are a not-for-profit organization operating at 6 locations across Vancouver, Richmond, North Vancouver, and Squamish. We are currently seeking a part-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Psychiatric Nurse to support our residential stabilization program and help provide safe, coordinated, person-centred care for residents in early recovery.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Site Manager and in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, the LPN/Psychiatric Nurse provides nursing care and health coordination services within a residential stabilization program. This role monitors resident physical and mental well-being, supports medication management, delivers health education and wellness programming, and contributes to clinical decision-making related to recovery readiness and safe transition planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor resident physical and mental well-being through regular check-ins, observation, and basic health assessments; identify changes and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Support stabilization and safety through nursing interventions within scope of practice and trauma-informed approaches.
- Store, administer, and document medications in accordance with TPRS policies, nursing standards, and scope of practice.
- Coordinate with prescribers, pharmacies, and external healthcare providers as needed (within consent parameters).
- Provide health education and wellness supports (e.g., sleep hygiene, nutrition, stress management, medication understanding, self-care).
- Contribute to interdisciplinary discussions on recovery readiness, program fit, and transition/discharge planning.
- Support medical/psychiatric/dental appointment coordination and follow-up care.
- Complete accurate, timely documentation (nursing notes, medication records, reports) and participate in team meetings/training as required.
Qualifications
- Practical Nursing Diploma from an accredited program.
- Current registration in good standing with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- 2–3 years of LPN experience preferred (experience in residential or social services settings is an asset).
- Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practice, harm reduction/recovery frameworks, mental health and substance use, and withdrawal considerations.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills; comfortable using electronic systems.
Requirements
- Valid BC Driver’s License and clear driver’s abstract.
- Criminal Record Check required.
- Current certification (or willingness to obtain/maintain):
o Emergency First Aid / CPR, CPI, Naloxone and FoodSafe Level 1
