Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Dishwasher/Kitchen Helper to support our culinary team at Namaste Bistro Sackville in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment. This role is essential in ensuring food safety standards are met and that the kitchen operates smoothly during busy service hours. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the food industry, with experience or interest in food handling, meal preparation, and restaurant operations.
Responsibilities
- Wash, sanitize, and organize dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment to ensure cleanliness and readiness for use
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping vegetables, assembling ingredients, and preparing simple meals under supervision
- Support the kitchen staff with meal assembly and plating as needed
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, floors, and storage areas in compliance with food safety standards
- Help with restocking supplies and organizing storage areas to ensure efficient kitchen operations
- Follow proper food handling procedures to uphold hygiene and safety regulations
- Assist in waste disposal and recycling processes to maintain a sanitary environment
Requirements
- Prior experience in a restaurant or food service environment is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential
- Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling procedures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong teamwork skills and a positive attitude
- Basic cooking skills or interest in developing culinary knowledge is a plus
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate loads, and perform repetitive tasks effectively
