Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Deli Clerk to join our team! In this role, you will be the friendly face behind our deli counter, preparing and serving delicious food while delivering exceptional customer service. Your enthusiasm and culinary skills will help create a positive shopping experience for our customers, ensuring the deli runs smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble a variety of deli foods, including sandwiches, salads, and other specialty items with precision and care
- Operate POS systems for sales transactions, ensuring accuracy in cash handling and sales processing
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting shoppers with product selections, answering questions, and upselling items to enhance their experience
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the deli area, including food handling, sanitation practices, and proper food storage
- Restock shelves and display cases regularly to keep the deli area attractive and well-organized
- Follow food safety guidelines and ensure all food is prepared in accordance with health regulations
- Assist with bussing tables or cleaning workstations as needed to support overall store operations
Skills
- Experience in food preparation within a quick service or fast food restaurant environment
- Proficiency with POS systems
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor
- Knowledge of food handling safety standards and sanitation procedures
- Ability to manage time effectively during busy periods while maintaining attention to detail
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math, and accurate measurement of ingredients
- Previous experience in grocery stores or food industry settings is highly desirable
