Aloette Restaurant is hiring a Restaurant Manager to join our team. Qualified candidates for this role have experience working in fast paced elevated restaurant settings. Michelin recognized restaurant experience in an hourly, supervisor, or management role is a strong asset.
The ideal candidate in this role has unquestionable hospitality, a passion for all things food and beverage, and the ability to focus in a fast paced environment.
The Alo Food Group creates and operates restaurants of regard in Toronto. Since the opening of Alo -- our fine-dining flagship -- in 2015, we have aimed to make luxuries approachable while elevating time-honoured favourites. We offer our guests a continuing relationship in venues where the deliciousness of the food is met by a passion for hospitality. Along with Alo, our portfolio of restaurants includes Aloette (2017); Alobar Yorkville (2018) and Alobar Downtown (2023); Salon (2019), an intimate space for private dining; Aloette Go (2021), a take-out-and-delivery-optimized version of the original; and Alo Catering (2022), which brings the Michelin-awarded food and service of Alo to events.
Responsibilities:
- Work in tandem with the General Manager to ensure successful daily operations, working hands on alongside the front of house team during service hours.
- Manage and lead a team of employees, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective performance.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase sales and profitability.
- Provide a safe inclusive environment for staff and colleagues.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback in a professional manner while always taking the guests' side.
- Oversee hiring, training, and guidance of hourly front of house staff, ensuring a positive culture amongst the team.
- Build and maintain outstanding relationships with guests both new and returning.
- Ordering and inventory control,
- Maintain strong communication with the kitchen team throughout service to ensure a smooth flow.
- Scheduling of front of house staff.
- Daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
- Reservation management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Opportunities to be involved in the wine program including ordering, inventory, stock control.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in restaurant management and experience in Michelin recognized restaurants is a strong asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- A keen eye for details.
- Problem solving skills and a solutions oriented mindset.
- Knowledgable & passionate about wine and spirits.
- Comfortable with administrative tasks such as reporting in Excel or Google Suite.
- Comfortable with handling guest feedback with care and empathy.
- Able to lead a team by example and provide actionable feedback to their team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with OpenTable, Google Suite, and TouchBistro is an asset.
Benefits & Compensation:
- Compensation listed is a combination of weekly gratuities and yearly salary totalling an average of $60,000 - $70,000 annually.
