About the position
Evertrust Development Group Inc. is seeking a capable and organized Litigation Law Clerk to assist our in-house legal team with active litigation, construction, real estate development, and dispute-related matters.
This position is suited for someone who is comfortable handling legal documents, tracking deadlines, coordinating follow-ups, and keeping multiple files moving in a busy in-house environment. The successful candidate should be detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently while supporting lawyers and internal business teams.
Key responsibilities
- · Prepare, format, review, and revise legal correspondence, notices, affidavits, pleadings, motion materials, and other litigation-related documents as directed.
- · Assist with organizing documents and information for civil litigation, construction disputes, development matters, and related legal files.
- · Maintain legal files, internal tracking records, document registers, and matter status updates in an accurate and organized manner.
- · Track limitation dates, court dates, filing deadlines, follow-up items, undertakings, and other time-sensitive matters.
- · Support court filing, service, corporate filing, and document submission processes where required.
- · Coordinate with internal departments, external counsel, consultants, contractors, service providers, and other parties regarding documents and outstanding items.
- · Follow up with lawyers and relevant parties to monitor file progress and help ensure matters continue to move forward efficiently.
- · Assist with compiling, saving, naming, and organizing legal documents, correspondence, evidence, and file materials.
- · Provide general administrative and operational support to the legal department, including scheduling, document management, and status reporting.
- · Assist with real estate, development, title, closing, Tarion, or construction-related documentation when required.
Qualifications and experience
- · Law Clerk diploma, legal assistant training, or equivalent legal education from a recognized institution is preferred.
- · Minimum 3 years of litigation law clerk, litigation assistant, or comparable litigation support experience is preferred.
- · Hands-on experience with litigation support, legal drafting, court filing procedures, deadline tracking, and file management is strongly preferred.
- · Experience with civil litigation, construction disputes, real estate development, commercial matters, or in-house legal work is considered an asset.
- · Familiarity with affidavits, notices, pleadings, legal correspondence, document production, and court-related materials is preferred.
- · Strong Microsoft Office skills and comfort working with legal document management or file tracking systems.
- · Excellent attention to detail, organization, follow-up ability, and time management skills.
- · Able to manage multiple files, prioritize urgent tasks, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- · Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
- · Experience in a builder, developer, construction, real estate, or litigation-focused legal environment would be an advantage.
