Roles and Responsibilities
We are currently looking for a skilled and motivated Machine Tool Builder/Millwright to operate a variety of machines/tools to complete given projects & tasks. You will be expected to maintain and perform repairs to all equipment and machine systems for facilities and production. We are looking for an experienced individual with a keen eye for detail, can work independently and with a team while demonstrating and adhering to Health and Safety precautions.
A strong candidate will demonstrate a solid ability to:
- Assemble, fit, align, plumb, and integrate workstations or systems that may include pneumatics and hydraulics, electrical sensing components, power transmission systems, conveyor systems and feeder systems;
- Build, assemble, and fit tooling fixtures to metal.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings including pneumatic/hydraulic schematics, BOMs, and detailed assembly drawings;
- Ability to identify individual components (both manufactured and purchased) and use them to create sub-assemblies for work cells, stations, and other automated equipment;
- Operate and inspect hand-held equipment (such as torches, oxygen lances, pneumatic/power actuated tools and hand tools);
- Maintain or repair operating equipment;
- Clearly communicate completed tasks
- Demonstrate good housekeeping practices at all times to help maintain a safe work area;
Qualifications and Core Skills
- Valid Certificate of Qualification for a Millwright, Tool & Die Maker, or Machine Tool Builder and Integrator, or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years’ experience in a custom automation environment preferred
- Previous MIG, TIG, and Stick Welding experience would be an asset
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings and specifications
- Experience operating all general-purpose machine shop equipment
- Ability to work as a member of a team with minimal supervision
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
Work Conditions
- Overtime as required, including weekends and off shifts 10% of the year. Typically, these are 1-2 week periods.
- Travel for installations may be required within Canada for the above installations.
Education:
- Valid Certificate of Qualification for a Millwright, Tool & Die Maker, or Machine Tool Builder and Integrator, or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years’ experience in a custom automation environment preferred
