About The Opportunity
Working as a liaison between the business, IT and industry partners, the Business Analyst is responsible for the timely and effective execution of new IT initiatives with lender partners, third party suppliers and internal stakeholders. The Business Analysis team supports a wide range of business and technology enhancements and operational functions, as well as playing a key role in delivering service excellence to Canada Guaranty’s customers. To succeed in this role, it is critical that the incumbent should be team and results-oriented, have an analytical way of thinking, an ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical resources, and a “can do” attitude.
In this role, you will:

Take a lead role in the development of strategic technology solutions for customers and internal stakeholders.

Work with lender partners and third-party suppliers to ensure timely and effective execution of new system integration initiatives.

Collaborate with internal business units including Risk, Underwriting, Operations, Information Technology, Finance, Sales, and Loss Mitigation to facilitate requirements gathering and execution of key business and technical initiatives.

Support the IT technical team in the estimation and development of these solutions.

Plan and conduct user acceptance testing with lender partners and internal users to ensure solutions meet business needs.

Lead small and mid-sized business and technical projects, including tracking progress, identifying, and resolving issues, and reporting status to IT and business stakeholders.

Identify and lead process and efficiency improvement initiatives related to how the Business Analyst team functions.

Periodically provide after-hours support associated with testing business and technical changes.
Essential Qualifications

University degree in Business, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience

At least 3 years of progressive experience, preferably in financial services organizations. For senior roles, at least five years of direct experience in Business Analysis roles

Knowledge of SQL, collaboration tools and wikis, and automation tools like Jenkins

Understanding of waterfall, hybrid, and agile software development life cycles

Demonstrated planning, organizational and time management skills with the ability to take accountability for and follow through on commitments

Excellent listening and oral/written communication skills

Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills

Ability to work independently on a variety of tasks and bring each of them to completion, while keeping management informed of status and seeking assistance as needed

Ability to work with, and effectively adjust to, changing priorities and schedules

Demonstrated ability to work in a respectful, collaborative, people and team-oriented environment

A strong sense of urgency about assisting customers, solving problems, meeting challenging deadlines and achieving critical goals
Preferred Qualifications

Basic knowledge of IT infrastructure (hardware, software, databases, networking, storage, and virtualization) and data exchange mechanisms (web services, REST API’s, SFTP, XML, JSON)

Hold or in pursuit of CBAP designation

Sound knowledge and experience working within mortgage lending or related financial services

Detailed knowledge of the mortgage and mortgage insurance industries

At least 3 years experience in a Business Analysis role

Bilingualism (French and English), both written and spoken

The salary range for this position ranges from $80,000 to $115,000. Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, along with internal equity.
