Working under the general supervision and guidance of the Public Health Area and Care Manager, the Administrative Support III position at the Community Health Centre performs a variety of general reception, clerical and office duties to support the Public Health Programs. The incumbent is responsible for processing high volumes of public and staff inquiries; both in person and over the telephone. This position schedules, books and confirms immunization appointments for clients and is responsible for registration functions, data entry and the records management for public health within the clinical information system. This position requires flexibility and the ability to prioritize and work well in a very busy, team environment. In keeping with the Alberta Health Services mission to provide patient focused quality health services, the administrative support role must be able to communicate effectively with the general public, health care staff and external stakeholders while upholding AHS values. The employee shall adhere to the Health Information Act, Freedom of Information and Privacy and other privacy legislation in effect and shall comply at all times with Alberta Health Services Information and Privacy Legislation and Security policies. This role involves extended periods of standing, sitting with repetitive hand movements (keyboarding and telephone handling) and the ability to work in a busy, noisy work environment and manage high clinic volumes. This position is based out of Shaganappi Community Health Centre but will support Acadia CHC as needed.
As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
At least 6 months administrative support experience in a health care setting within the last 1-2 years. Proficient and accurate keyboarding/computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Excellent time management skills. Experience working in a multidisciplinary team. Ability to work in a high paced, frequently changing environment. Attention to detail in the midst of frequent interruptions. Demonstrate strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients of varying ages, socioeconomic status and ethnic background. Excellent knowledge of the English language both written and oral is required. Ability to work toward being self-directed in work-load management. Demonstrated ability to work as a contributing member in a team environment is required. Ability to sit and utilize phone/computer for extended periods of time; ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Post-secondary education. Demonstrated leadership experience. Experience in Connect Care Clinical Information System in the last 2 years. Experience in well child clinic and school health Community Health Centre setting in the last 2 years. Experience working with diverse populations and young families. Medical Office Assistant training of benefit.
