The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager to lead high-profile bridge construction and piling projects. Based in Prince George, BC, this role requires regular travel and active site attendance.
In this pivotal position, you will oversee the full lifecycle of bridge projects — from pre-construction planning through execution and close-out — ensuring excellence in safety, quality, scheduling, and financial performance. Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
- Lead and manage bridge construction and deep foundation projects from start to completion.
- Oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and contract administration.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
- Maintain regular on-site presence to support field operations and leadership teams.
- Coordinate closely with Superintendents to align field execution with project plans.
Financial & Contract Management
- Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
- Track productivity, manage change orders, and oversee progress billing.
- Review and administer contracts, subcontracts, and supplier agreements.
- Mitigate project risks through proactive planning and issue resolution.
Technical Oversight
- Review and interpret structural drawings, bridge design specifications, geotechnical reports, and technical documents.
- Coordinate with engineers, consultants, and clients to resolve technical challenges.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
Team Coordination & Communication
- Lead project meetings with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to project coordinators and junior staff.
- Foster strong working relationships across field and office teams.
- Maintain clear and detailed project documentation and reporting.
Quality & Safety Leadership
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all projects.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Support site teams in implementing quality control measures and inspection protocols.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience
- 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction.
- Demonstrated experience managing bridge construction, piling, or transportation infrastructure projects.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering multi-million-dollar infrastructure projects.
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of bridge construction methods including:
- Structural concrete
- Steel girder installation
- Pile driving and deep foundations
- Formwork and falsework systems
- Knowledge of contract types, project controls, scheduling software, and cost management systems.
- Ability to read and interpret structural and civil engineering drawings.
Leadership & Communication
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Comfortable working in both office and remote site environments.
Certifications & Licenses
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license (required).
- Professional designation (P.Eng., PMP) considered an asset.
- Relevant safety certifications are an asset.
