OCTS is seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Dispatcher / Logistics Coordinator to support the daily movement of freight, coordinate with internal teams and external carriers, and help ensure seamless service delivery.
This is a fast-paced, on-site role based in Acheson, Alberta. The successful candidate will be calm under pressure, confident communicating with drivers and customers, and able to manage changing priorities throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule equipment pickups and deliveries with carriers and customers.
- Assign drivers to routes and ensure timely and accurate movement of freight.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with drivers, clients, brokers, and internal teams.
- Monitor and adjust driver routes in real time to address delays or changing priorities.
- Obtain and negotiate shipping rates with service providers when required.
- Ensure carrier and driver compliance with OCTS policies and relevant provincial/federal regulations.
- Document and approve additional customer charges and provide drivers with accurate Proof of Service details.
- Maintain accurate records, including driver logs, dispatch activity, and freight status updates.
- Use dispatch, GPS, and mapping software such as Google Maps, PortPro, or similar tools to support routing and scheduling.
- Address and resolve customer concerns and operational conflicts efficiently and professionally.
- Identify opportunities to streamline operations and reduce detention or service delays.
- Perform other duties as needed to support daily logistics operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in dispatching, transportation, or logistics coordination is preferred.
- Experience in trucking, freight, drayage, intermodal, warehousing, or transportation operations is an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Confident dealing with drivers, customers, carriers, brokers, and internal teams.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proven ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and dispatch/logistics software.
- Knowledge of Alberta and Western Canadian geography is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with federally and provincially regulated carrier compliance is an asset.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.
