Job Summary:
We are looking for a friendly, energetic, and customer-focused Baker/Pastry Chef to help create delicious desserts and baked goods while providing exceptional service to our elders, residents, and guests.
The Baker/Pastry Chef plays an important role in enriching the lives of our elders by preparing high-quality desserts, baked goods, and beverages while providing exceptional customer service in a warm and welcoming environment. This position is responsible for ensuring food quality, safety, presentation, and efficient kitchen operations while supporting a person-directed care philosophy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and bake desserts and baked goods for residents, guests, and our bakery/store.
- Serve meals, desserts, and beverages in a courteous and timely manner.
- Ensure food is prepared, stored, and served according to food safety standards.
- Assist with meal service, plating, and beverage preparation.
- Help maintain inventory and minimize food waste.
- Receive and properly store food and supply deliveries.
- Support special events and catering functions within the home.
- Report equipment maintenance needs and contribute to a clean, organized kitchen.
What We're Looking For:
- Grade 12 diploma (or currently working toward completion).
- Minimum 2-3 years of food service, hospitality, or baking experience.
- Commercial baking experience is an asset.
- Valid Food Handler Certificate.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Basic computer and POS system knowledge.
- Basic math and cash-handling skills.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Maintain an interest in learning and supporting person-directed care practices.
- Be capable of meeting the physical, emotional, and psychological demands of the position.
