Position Overview:
We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our HVDC Modernization Project Department. Under the general direction of the Section
Head or Project Managers, will be responsible for the project management and administrative activities on assigned strategic and
complex projects, or portions of large complex projects, as they apply to the overall planning, design, construction and
commissioning activities. Will provide project management expertise to project participants.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for multidisciplinary coordination and ensuring the final product meets technical requirements. Monitor any
changes to the scope of work; notify and obtain authorization from project stakeholders to any changes.
- Prepare capital project reports as needed for a variety of stakeholders, such as; variance explanations, outlook forecasts,
yearend forecasts, project reports and summaries, memos, and lessons learned including issues arising from environmental,
safety, licensing, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Responsible for the management of capital projects, or portions of large complex projects.
- Lead multi-disciplinary project teams including organizing and chairing Project Management meetings on a regular basis
drawing upon a sound understanding of the principles associated with the design, procurement and construction of
transmission and distribution plant and facilitating discussions between project participants, both internal and external, to
proactively manage project issues and risks and seek out opportunities for efficiencies.
- Lead, and provide input to, the development of CIJ (Capital Investment Justification) and CIJ Addendums including scope,
schedule, risk and cost estimates.
- Lead a review of performance of the project team with respect to the initial scope and the identified project deliverables and
make recommendations for future improvements.
- Provide project management expertise to support project participants regarding interdisciplinary engineering, procurement,
financial, safety, environmental, and resource issues.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, training and development to workgroup members on project management tools and
techniques.
- Participate on or lead committees that help shape the goals, processes, procedures and practices with regards to project
management.
Qualifications:
- Graduate in Engineering from a University of recognized standing, with a minimum of six years' related experience including
two years' experience in project management.
- Professional member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (or willingness and ability to attain within a
specified amount of time).
- Sound knowledge of fundamentals of electrical, civil and mechanical disciplines.
- Demonstrated application of Project Management theory including scoping, estimating, scheduling, procurement, cost control,
