Job Overview: The Registered Energy Advisor will provide energy efficiency assessments and advice to homeowners and businesses, helping them improve energy efficiency, lower energy costs, and comply with relevant environmental standards. This role involves conducting energy audits, creating energy saving recommendations, and assisting clients in navigating available government programs, rebates, and incentives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive energy audits for residential properties, assessing heating, cooling, insulation, ventilation, and other energy related factors.
- Generate detailed energy audit reports with recommendations for improving energy efficiency, which may include suggestions for insulation, heating systems etc.
- Provide clients with information on applicable rebates, incentives, and programs available through government or utility companies.
- Guide clients in making informed decisions on energy saving upgrades and improvements.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, new energy efficiency technologies, and relevant government regulations.
- Assist in promoting energy saving programs and products to clients and the community.
- Provide ongoing support to clients post audit, ensuring they follow through with recommended energy efficiency improvements.
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of assessments, recommendations, and client interactions.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Registered Energy Advisor (EA) with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), required.
- Minimum of 100 completed EnerGuide files strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of energy efficient building practices, energy audits, and building science principles.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency incentives, rebate programs, and government regulations related to energy conservation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with clients and provide clear explanations of energy efficiency concepts.
- Detail oriented with the ability to analyze and evaluate building systems for energy performance.
- Proficient in energy audit software (HOT2000) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Previous experience in energy consulting, auditing, or related fields is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform site visits to residential properties, which may involve climbing ladders, carrying equipment, and accessing attics or crawl spaces.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel between client sites.
