Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Property Management Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial operations related to property portfolios, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software and a strong understanding of corporate finance principles. The Property Management Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial health of our property assets through meticulous bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and financial analysis.
Duties
- Utilize accounting software such as Yardi Voyager, MRI, QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, and other industry-standard tools for accurate bookkeeping and financial management
- Perform account reconciliation and bank reconciliation to verify accuracy of financial data
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, budgets, and reports for property portfolios
- Oversees and provides year-end working papers for property portfolios.
- Assist with account analysis to identify discrepancies or irregularities in financial data
- Support budgeting processes by providing detailed financial insights and forecasts
- Ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions and maintain organized records for audit purposes
- Collaborate with property management teams to optimize financial performance
EXPERIENCE:
- Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping within the real estate or property management industry preferred
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms is required
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, and account analysis
- Experience with corporate finance practices including budgeting, auditing, and financial reporting is highly desirable
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential
Skills
- Diploma/Degree in Accounting
- Valid CPA designation (or working towards CPA designation)
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of Full Cycle accounting
- Thorough knowledge of all accounting department functions
- Knowledge of Yardi software and MS Office 365 would be an asset
- Experience in Property Management would be an asset
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communications skills is a must
- Works well independently and within a team environment
- Ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner
- Highly organized and takes initiative to complete tasks
