Lumber Estimator
Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 per year
About Us
We are a fast-growing building materials company serving residential and commercial construction projects. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a detail-oriented Lumber Estimator to support our sales, operations, and customer service teams by providing accurate and timely material takeoffs and cost estimates.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate lumber takeoffs from architectural and structural drawings
Estimate materials for framing packages, decks, fences, garages, trusses, and custom builds
Review blueprints for accuracy, completeness, and potential missing information
Create detailed quotes, material lists, and cost breakdowns for customer orders
Work closely with contractors, builders, and homeowners to clarify project scope and requirements
Communicate with suppliers and internal teams regarding pricing, lead times, and product availability
Support sales staff with technical product knowledge and material substitutions
Maintain organized project files and revise estimates as project details change
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in lumber estimating, construction estimating, or a related field
Strong knowledge of lumber products, building materials, and construction terminology
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, framing plans, and structural drawings
Experience with estimating software or CAD tools such as MiTek, AutoCAD, or Bluebeam is an asset
Excellent attention to detail with strong mathematical and analytical skills
Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates simultaneously
