Senior Software Engineer – Java
Full time – Permanent Position
Canada Remote

The Senior Software Engineer, Java reports to the Engineering Manager, Software Delivery, and will be responsiblefor all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle, including discovery, design, implementation, and support.
In this role, you will serve on a full-stack team facing the challenges of building highly scalable distributed systems. You'llcollaborate with cross-functional teams of different expertise to ensure project objectives get achieved.

● Strategic + Operational Guidance
○ Collaborate with architecture to deliver high-quality software solutions while guiding junior developers.
○ Work closely with the Software Development Technical Lead to establish technical strategy, the scope of work, execution plans, and project
milestones.
○ Implement microservices for our new cloud-native platform, including envisioning, designing, creating,deployment automation, and monitoring.
○ Conduct code reviews and coaching and mentoring of junior developers.
○ Identify and communicate development-related dependencies to internal and external teams as needed.
○ Develop technical documentation for faster, easier new hire onboarding and facilitate the handover of support and maintenance of services to other teams.
● Product + Technical Command
○ Apply expertise in software development to design and implement solutions that meet high requirements on quality and scalability.
○ Evaluate supplier API specifications to inform business/functional requirements and user experience.
○ Help to evaluate system data and create migration plans to prepare for and perform data migrations.
○ Translate business requirements to technical architecture and designs.
○ Provide technical leadership by enforcing the vision of the application architecture in collaboration with architects and technical leads.
○ Communicate technical solutions' capabilities and limitations in language accessible to team members of varying technical expertise.
What you bring to the table:
● 7+ years of professional software development experience
● Experience with various programming languages (Java, JavaScript, React, C/C++) and open-source technologies (Linux, Spring, SOA)
● Experience with SSO and external authentication
● Experience with primary AWS-managed services, including SQS, S3, SNS, Cognito, and ApiGateway
● Demonstrated experience successfully executing projects
● Skill at building relationships and effectively communicating; ability and commitment to listen, share, cooperate, and learn together as a team
Pay: $115,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
