POSITION SUMMARY
Under the Direction of the Director of Children and Families, the Early Childhood Educators will assist staff with programs for children between the ages of infancy and 12 years. Early childhood educators will provide child minding for families when they are attending programming within FNFAO.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with programs in all aspects that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
- Assist advocates with children and families during meetings
- Assist lead facilitators with implementation of workshop duties
- Provide child minding for clients who attend programming
- Assist with activities by telling or reading stories, providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, and physical activity
- Maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
- Maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have completed the 40-hour course to achieve your ECA, related work experience will be considered
- Must have a clean child abuse check and criminal records check
- Experience working with First Nations and First Nation organizations and/or entities as an asset.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience working with First Nation children, youth, and families;
- Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Excellent time management skills
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Be able to follow office practices, procedures, and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of First Nations and First Nations peoples.
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
