Job Description
Tl’azt’en Nation is seeking a professional, organized, and dependable HR Assistant to support the Human Resources department.
This position is ideal for someone who is interested in Human Resources, enjoys working with people, and is comfortable supporting confidential employee records, recruitment, onboarding, filing, document tracking, and general administration. The role will also include part time reception duties as needed to support front office operations.
About the Role
The HR Assistant will support day to day HR administration while also helping maintain organized, confidential, and consistent HR processes. The successful candidate must be detail oriented, respectful, reliable, and able to handle sensitive information with care.
This role provides a strong opportunity to grow HR and administrative skills while supporting the daily operations of the Nation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support HR with employee file maintenance, document tracking, onboarding paperwork, and confidential records.
Assist with recruitment activities, including job postings, interview scheduling, applicant communication, and interview packages.
Support new hire onboarding, including forms, checklists, orientation materials, and follow up documentation.
Track training records, certificates, criminal record checks, driver’s abstracts, policy acknowledgements, and other employee documents.
Assist with timesheet follow up, leave form tracking, staff communication, and general HR administration.
Prepare letters, forms, spreadsheets, meeting notes, and other administrative documents.
Maintain organized electronic and paper filing systems.
Maintain confidentiality of employee, applicant, and organizational information.
Provide part time reception coverage as required, including greeting visitors, answering phones, responding to general inquiries, taking messages, and directing people to the appropriate department or staff member.
Support meeting preparation, room bookings, sign in sheets, photocopying, scanning, mail, and general office coordination as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Administrative, HR assistant, reception, or office support experience is preferred.
Post secondary education or training in human resources, office administration, business administration, or a related field is considered an asset.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a busy office environment.
Comfortable working with staff, community members, applicants, leadership, and external contacts.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, email, and basic computer systems.
Reliable, professional, respectful, and willing to learn.
Knowledge of Tl’azt’en Nation culture and community, or willingness to learn.
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check may be required.
