SUMMARY: You will build the foundational backend services, billing engines, and data models for our next-generation enterprise IoT platform. Your immediate goal is to deliver the core infrastructure necessary to securely migrate existing enterprise customers from legacy systems to our modern cloud environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Architect and implement a scalable device database to ensure trusted device identity, validation, and catalog structure.
- Design and build scalable backend services and APIs supporting device management, billing, authentication, and administration.
- Build robust billing and administration capabilities needed for enterprise readiness, including subscription monetization, RBAC, and auditability.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep to automate resource creation and ensure maintainability as the platform scales.
- Collaborate with Product, Platform, Cloud, and Customer Success teams to deliver reliable IoT solutions.
- Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude-Preferred, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to improve engineering productivity while maintaining high standards for code quality, testing, and documentation.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience developing enterprise-grade cloud applications.
- Strong expertise in .NET / ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, REST APIs, and gRPC.
- Experience with GraphQL and designing distributed messaging systems (e.g., pub/sub, Azure Service Bus).
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud technologies, specifically Azure App Service and Azure AD B2C / Microsoft Entra ID.
- Deep understanding of database technologies, specifically Azure Cosmos DB and Redis.
- Working knowledge of containerization and observability principles, with an eye toward future Kubernetes adoption.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lifting requirements up to 10 pounds.
- Requires sitting for periods of time and occasional mobility.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Minimal noise.
- Our Minnesota facility includes a manufacturing environment. Moderate noise level. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; safety glasses, hearing protection, wrist and shoe straps, and ESD smock. Loose fitting clothing and jewelry are not permitted. No food is allowed in the manufacturing area. No cell phone use allowed in manufacturing area unless approved by management.
