Job Responsibilities:
· Lead and manage Pride Hamilton’s communications strategy to support the organization’s mission and values
· Develop, implement, and maintain consistent messaging across all communication channels
· Oversee social media accounts, website content, email communications, and public announcements
· Create and coordinate promotional campaigns for Pride events, festivals, and community initiatives
· Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and public communications
· Draft, edit, and approve press releases, newsletters, and official statements
· Ensure communications are inclusive, accessible, and reflective of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community
· Collaborate with Board members and committee leads to ensure timely and accurate information sharing
· Support crisis or issue communications as needed with clear, respectful messaging
· Monitor engagement and feedback to improve communication effectiveness
· Maintain brand guidelines and visual identity across all platforms
· Support and coordinate communications volunteers, photographers, or designers where applicable
Qualifications:
· 3 or more years experience working in communications.
· Experience working on a board of directors an asset.
· Excellent team-working, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work effectively with others.
· Must convey a positive and professional image to applicants and employees.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, time management skills, and solid documentation techniques.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
