About the Role
We are looking for a Local Team Manager to own the people side of our window cleaning operation in the Toronto market. Your job is straightforward: build a great team, develop them into excellent technicians, and hold the standard every single day.
You are not responsible for routing, dispatch, or sales strategy. Those systems are handled. What you are responsible for is the human engine that makes everything else work — making sure the right people show up, that they are trained to do the job properly, that they are improving over time, and that when someone is not working out, you deal with it decisively and replace them with someone better.
This role suits someone who genuinely enjoys developing people and takes personal pride in the performance of a team they built. If your best professional moments have come from watching someone you trained become excellent at their job, you will thrive here.
What a Typical Week Looks Like
7:00 – 8:00 AM — Morning Readiness You start the day at the yard. You confirm every technician is present, on time, and that all equipment is accounted for and in working order before anyone leaves for the field. Issues get resolved before they become customer problems.
Morning — Training The bulk of your morning is spent on structured training. For new hires, this means getting them field-ready as quickly as possible — technique, standards, customer interaction, and safety. For experienced technicians, this means continuous improvement: identifying weak points, running targeted drills, and raising the ceiling of what the team is capable of.
Afternoon — Performance Reviews and One-on-Ones You meet individually with technicians to review their performance data, give direct feedback, and set expectations for the following week. These are not casual check-ins — they are structured conversations with a clear agenda. You track progress over time and use these sessions to identify who is ready to take on more responsibility and who is falling behind.
End of Day — Interviews You spend approximately one hour per day keeping the hiring pipeline active. You are always interviewing, regardless of whether there is an immediate opening. A strong team is never built reactively.
Core Responsibilities
Team Development You are the primary coach and trainer for every technician on your team. You design and deliver training for new hires and run ongoing improvement sessions for existing staff. You set the standard for what good work looks like and hold it consistently.
Performance Management You conduct regular one-on-ones and formal performance reviews. You give direct, constructive feedback and document performance issues when they arise. You make recommendations on pay adjustments, promotions, and terminations. You do not avoid difficult conversations.
Hiring and Team Building You own the full hiring cycle — sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding. You maintain an active pipeline of candidates at all times so that the team is never short-staffed due to turnover. You make hiring decisions based on attitude and coachability, not just experience.
Daily Readiness You are accountable for ensuring the team is ready to operate every morning. This means attendance, punctuality, and equipment — the basics that everything else depends on.
Standards and Accountability You are the person who enforces the company's service and conduct standards on the ground. When technicians fall short, you address it directly. When they excel, you recognize it. The culture of the team reflects you.
What We Are Looking For
The right person for this role has managed or coached a team before and understands that results come from people, not systems. You are comfortable giving direct feedback, you do not shy away from terminating someone who is not working out, and you take the development of your team personally.
You are a strong fit if you:
- Have 2+ years of experience directly managing, coaching, or training a team of 4 or more people
- Are comfortable holding people accountable and having difficult conversations
- Have experience hiring, specifically evaluating candidates
- Take genuine pride in the performance of people you have developed
- Are based in or near Toronto and available to be on-site daily from 7:00 AM
Experience in trades, home services, or a field-based environment is an asset but not required. We can teach the industry. We cannot teach the ability to lead people.
