This isn't going to be a conventional job posting. I'm doing this in hopes of finding one very specific person to fit the role needed.
Ill start with a bit of an introduction and work my way through the actual job description.
My cousin and I run a small electrical company in the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland. We do all sorts of electrical but tend to steer towards higher end residential new builds and renos, commercial a/c installs for a company we are very close with, and some industrial when it comes our way. Like I said above we do most of our work in the Fraser Valley but will travel from basically Hope down to North Van but focus on areas close to Abbotsford. My cousin is the contractor of the business and also handles the office work. I handle all the day to day jobsite work and run the van. We have a pretty good thing going but want to try and expand, so finding the right person is key. We are looking for someone whos easy going but likes to work hard when needed. Personality is another huge one with us. I've tried a few guys in the past and their personalities were like talking to a wall. I'm 36 and my cousin is 46, we are both pretty chill guys but serious and professional when needed. I like rap and metal music and listen to it often so if that's not your thing honestly just keep looking. Like I said before our personalities are gonna have to jive or this just wont work. Big into the outdoors so hopefully you are too. Also looking for someone who is 420 friendly as we do work in the industry from time to time. Now moving into what we are looking for experience wise.
We are looking for anyone from first to third year. We unfortunately cant afford to teach any super new guys so again please keep looking if you have less than a years experience.
List of things I would expect you to be able to do without me:
1)Run cable from a to b and know how to support it properly
2)Enter cables into any sort of box you would commonly use
3)Splice wires inside any and every sort of device box or junction box you would commonly use
4)Wire all common devices
5)Terminate wires onto breakers
6)Run power tools. I shouldn't have to say this but some guys/girls cannot run certain drills or saws and get scared. If this is you I think you know the drill, move on please and thank you.
7)This last one is a huge 1 up for anyone who can do it as even I am terrible at it and haven't spent nearly anytime in my career doing it and that's bending pipe. I can do it but I'm not great or fast by any means. We don't do a ton of pipe but we probably will in the future so if you can help teach me that would be huge!
I'm sure I could have listed more but those are the main ones. Most of which I would end up teaching you our way/standard first and then you can apply it to whatever you know. With that being said I have a high standard of workmanship and take pride in what goes behind and in front of walls. I'm no hack, I like straight lines and clean work.
If you lasted this long I thank you for reading all that and hope this could be something you are interested in. Next steps would be to schedule a meet up for coffee or something like that so I can get to know a bit more about you and your experience. You dont need to send me a cover letter just a resume and maybe a little write up about you and your experience.
Cheers everyone,
Branden.
